Electrical Condenser

This is a condenser, an apparatus that can hold an electric charge. The principle of this instrument is based on a discovery of the Italian scientist Alessandro Volta. Volta thought that electricity was generated when two different metals touched one another. During his experiments with electricity he discovered this method to hold electric charges. This instrument consists of two lacquered brass plates close to each other on a glass tube. As glass is an insulator, the electricity cannot flow away. The oldest known version of a condenser is the Leyden jar.
