Tanya Rumpff donates international contemporary drawings to Teylers Museum

Mar 31, 2023 to Sep 03, 2023

With her art gallery in Haarlem, Tanya Rumpff has played an important role in the Dutch contemporary art world for many decades. Thanks to her advice, Teylers Museum acquired various drawings by prominent Dutch and international artists. Even after closing her gallery in 2010, Rumpff continued to point out opportunities so the museum could acquire works of art to add to its fine collection.

The icing on the cake is that Rumpff has now donated 89 drawings from her own personal collection to Teylers Museum. This is in line with a long tradition of how Teylers Museum works. From the end of the 18th century onwards, the museum has collected contemporary drawings to encourage ‘living art’. This generous donation by Rumpff consists of drawings by artists such as Marlene Dumas, Tony Oursler, Anne-Marie Schneider and Jan Schoonhoven. It is a wonderful token of her versatile taste and her ‘gifted eye’.

The exhibition will be accompanied by a book with all 89 works from Tanya's donation, designed by Laura Pappa. The book will be for sale in the museum shop starting the end of March.
